Investigation about the Length of Vulva according to Age in Normal Korean Women

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives: To report the length of vulva division in normal Korean women according to age and mode of delivery.
Methods: We checked the length of vulva in the patients who didn’t have vulvovaginal or mullerian anomaly. The
length of vulva was devided into three parts; the distance from clitoris to urethral meatus (A), from urethral meatus
to posterior fourchette (B), from posterior fourchette to anus (C). We also checked the sum of the length of three
parts (D). The mean value of the length of vulva (A, B, C, D) was analyzed according to age and mode of delivery
in married women.
Results: (A) was 2.14±0.69 cm, (B) was 2.26±0.61 cm, (C) was 2.63±0.63 cm and (D) was 7.03±1.18 cm in
all the patients. (A) was significantly shorter in women in thirties or fourties than women in tenth or twenties. (B)
was significantly longer in women in fourties than women under fourties. (C) was not significantly different according
to age. (B) and (D) was longer in vaginal delivery group than no delivery group and (D) was longer in vaginal
delivery group than cesarean section group.
Conclusion: This study gave us the information that the length of vulvar differs according to age and mode of
delivery. More study about the length of vulva should be performed in the women with vulvovaginal anomaly, mullerian
anomaly as well as the women without anomaly.
